United States Department of Commerce - Safe Harbor
The US Department of Commerce is tasked with overseeing the Safe Harbor framework, a set of privacy principles which (if followed) enable businesses in to easily transport personal data from the European Union to the United States. This website provides useful information for organizations that are considering joining the Safe Harbor.
European Commission - Data Protection
This website from the European Commission provides valuable information regarding the use of alternative mechanisms to legitimize the transfer of personal data from the European Union to the United States (e.g., model contracts, binding corporate rules). Here you will also find guidance published by Article 29 Working Party on the application of the European Union Data Protection Directive enacted in 1995.
